It’s the real-life Ryu! The scene with Ryu (voiced by Jon Heder) and his mom (voiced by Maria Bamford) still cracks me up. #legendofkorra #ryu #vscocam

We are thrilled to announce Henry Rollins as the voice of the Book 3 main villain, Zaheer. Henry did a brilliant turn in this role, taking it very seriously from the get-go, going so far as to conduct an in-depth interview about the character, his background, and his motivations with Mike and me on the phone while he was on a spoken word tour––all before he even recorded his audition. If you aren’t familiar with Henry (likely because you were born in the ’90s or ’00s), he is a legendary punk singer, actor, speaker, activist, and radio DJ. He had a hilarious role in our buddy Kurt Mattila’s co-directorial debut, Lies & Alibis. We heard from Kurt back then how incredibly friendly Henry is and what a pleasure he is to work with, and he exceeded even that glowing report. Hearing Henry’s tales of his fearless travels around the world is a real treat. As Mike says, “He actually is The Most Interesting Man In The World.”

Henry rocks! And Zaheer is probably my favorite villain we’ve brought to life. michaeldantedimartino:

More info and screen shots from the Activision/Platinum Korra video game.

bryankonietzko:

We recently saw gameplay footage from this Activision project and it looks awesome. Platinum is doing a fantastic job with the development. Tim Hedrick, series writer, is writing the game and cooked up the story and villain with Mike and me. And our buddies at Titmouse are animating the cut scenes, one of which you can see in the trailer in this link––very cool stuff. I’m not a gamer, but I might even play this thing! Hope you guys enjoy it. Our character designer Christie Tseng is doing the cover art, and there is some sort of contest where you can vote for which cover you want her to finish.

THAT’S RIGHT, FOLKS! THE LEGEND OF KORRA: BOOK 3 PREMIERES FRIDAY, JUNE 27 AT 7PM/6C ON NICKELODEON!

More via IGN

It’s official — Book 3 of Korra premieres next Friday at 7PM. Please help spread the word! The first three episodes will air that night. So happy to finally be able to share the episodes with everyone!

The news broke while I was on a plane! It’s going to be a Korra summer!

bryankonietzko:

Howdy, friends. As you have likely already heard, four episodes from Book 3 were leaked this past weekend. It is bad enough that it happened at all, but it would have been a little less of a disaster had it at least been the first four episodes of the season. Instead, the third through the sixth episodes popped out online, causing confusion and, at least on our end of things, frustration. As you all know, these episodes take a ton of concerted effort from scores of individuals. We craft these continuous storylines and the animation as best we can, and hope that they are presented in a way that allows everyone to enjoy them to the fullest. But when leaks happen, the work we meticulously prepared for the audience is fumbled unceremoniously.

Nickelodeon is obviously a massive corporation with outlets all over the world. These outlets get the episodes in advance so they can translate and dub them for their markets. We typically deliver the episodes to the network quite close to their U.S. premieres, but in the case of Book 3, we have actually already finished the entire season as of last week. The network has some plans in the works for it and needs to wait on its release, so we have been keeping quiet while keeping our noses to the Book 4 grindstone. Unfortunately, the longer the episodes sit on all these shelves all over the world, the probability of leaks increases.

So, yeah… It is unfortunate it played out this way. Hopefully it won’t be too much longer before Book 3 is released properly and with respect to all the people who worked hard to make it and to the audience who wants to watch it.

Bryan pretty much summed it up. It’s been a frustrating couple of days for sure. Thanks to everyone who refrained from reblogging and spreading the spoilers further. Watching the story in sequence, as it is intended will be much more satisfying, I assure you.

Some comic-related oldies.

Tinkerbell. I used some clear plastic painted with glittery nail polish for her wings. Then I superglued them onto her back. Then I knocked one off of her back and then glued it back on again. That pretty much describes everything I do. Trial and error…. And error and error. Then fixing those errors again and again. There’s no real reason why I put her in a bottle marked “dairy”. It was just the right shape. Then I threw some gold glitter for pixie dust in it.
Tinkerbell was supposed to look a little crotchety because she’s trapped in a bottle, but apparently I’m not terribly good at sculpting or painting angry faces. She just looks like she drank some sour milk… No good. thebestlaurenmontgomery:
